My research focuses on foundation models, multimodal imaging, and natural language processing in healthcare. Below are some recent highlights.

LLaVA-Rad: a small multimodal model for chest X-ray interpretation and CheXprompt: radiologist aligned metric for evaluation

Chest X-rays are the most common medical image modality. Automatically producing accurate reports is a grand challenge in radiology AI. This work introduces LLaVA-Rad, a small multimodal model that was state-of-the-art at generating radiology report findings when released, as well as CheXprompt, the first radiologist aligned automated evaluation metric for generated reports.

Tx-LLM: a foundation model for drug discovery and development

Drugs are a key therapeutic tool. This work introduces the first end-to-end model for drug discovery and development, showcasing the potential of instruction tuning large language models to achieve state-of-the-art performance in over a third of 66 tasks explored.
